Texas couple sues trucking company after accident on I-10

Anyone who has been involved in an accident with a semi-truck knows that it can be a matter of life or death. The sheer size and weight of 18-wheelers make them no match for a passenger car. Unfortunately, trucking accidents occur all of the time Texas, where freight transportation makes up much of the highway travel.

When trucking accidents are caused by negligent or wrongful acts of another party, such as the driver or the driver's employer, the injured victim can often pursue a personal injury lawsuit. The victims may be able to recover damages for economic losses, including medical bills, lost wages, as well as non-economic damages for pain and suffering.

It can be difficult and confusing to figure out what to do next after a trucking accident. Insurance companies often contact accident victims right away to try to get the claim settled for less than it's worth. That's why victims are wise to seek assistance from an experienced personal injury attorney right away who can open an investigation on the victim's behalf.

This appears to be the route a Texas man and woman took after being struck from behind by a semi-truck. According to the couple, they were traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 on March 30, 2011 when they had to slow down for traffic ahead of them. The couple said that's when a truck slammed into their vehicle.

The couple filed a personal injury lawsuit against AAA Truck Agency, the owner of the big rig, and its driver on Aug. 22 in Jefferson County District Court. The plaintiffs say they were seriously injured in the accident.

The lawsuit accuses AAA Truck Agency of negligent entrustment and further accuses the truck driver of excessive speed, following too close and negligently failing to keep a proper lookout.

The plaintiffs seek damages for past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
