Texas tractor-trailer driver injured in crash

A tractor-trailer driver from Texas was involved in an accident when he was driving through Kansas earlier this week. When the driver reportedly reached for a jug of water, the truck swerved off of the road and came to a stop in a ditch. The driver was wearing a seat belt, but was injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. A passenger sleeping in the back of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

This accident demonstrates the potential for a truck driver to be injured on the job. The sheer number of hours truck drivers spend on the road every week increases their risk of getting into an accident and suffering an injury. When truck drivers are operating the vehicle themselves, they probably feel in control of their safety, but as this accident shows, another truck driver may be the one putting one's life at risk.

The passenger sleeping in the back of the truck may have also been a truck driver. Though the driver who was reaching for the jug of water was the one who was injured, the other man riding in the back of the tractor-trailer could easily have been injured, especially since he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

If two truck drivers tag-team with each other, they often put their safety in the hands of the other truck driver. Both drivers most likely trust that the other driver will operate the tractor-trailer safely. However, accidents do occur. For instance, in this case, a driver's attempt to multi-task while driving was not successful and resulted in an injury.

When a truck driver is injured in an accident that occurred because of the negligence of another driver on the road or the other driver in the truck, the injured driver may want to look further into the issue. Seeking guidance from a personal injury attorney may be worthwhile in this situation.
