Houston construction worker killed in high-rise fall

Construction is one of the most dangerous job industries in Texas and the rest of the United States. All too often, workers who are exposed to hazards at construction sites end up suffering serious injuries on the job. Worse yet, there are many fatal construction accidents that occur each year.

Unfortunately, just last week a construction worker was killed in the Houston area after he fell down an elevator shaft at a job site. The accident occurred at one of the city's newest high-rise buildings, known as the 2929 Weslayan project. The project is expected to be the tallest residential tower in the city and is being developed by Houston-based PM Realty Group.

According to reports, the fatal accident occurred last Thursday when a male construction worker fell 11 stories down the elevator shaft.

The vice president of communications for the project's general contractor, CF Jordan Construction, called the incident a "great tragedy" in an interview with the Houston Chronicle.

Investigators from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration have reportedly been called to the scene to determine if workplace safety violations contributed to the accident.

After a fatal workplace accident occurs, the family of the worker who was killed often does not know where to turn for justice or support. They might find that an experienced personal injury lawyer can look out for their interests and help them figure out what to do next.

Oftentimes, an investigation is needed to determine if negligence on behalf of the employer or a third-party contributed to the death. If so, a wrongful death claim may be pursued.

Ultimately, an experienced personal injury attorney can focus on the legal process while the family focuses on grieving the loss of their loved one.
