Hit and run leaves Baton Rouge construction worker seriously injured

Road construction workers put their lives on the line on a daily basis, and it is the duty of every driver to follow the rules of the road, pay attention to signage and exercise due caution in construction zones.

An egregious traffic offense in a construction zone in Louisiana recently left a Baton Rouge construction worker with serious injuries. As of Nov. 29, police were still looking for the driver of what is believed to be a newer Ford Mustang that hit a 38-year-old construction worker and left the scene.

According to the Louisiana State Patrol, the car entered a closed lane on Highway 30 in Ascension Parish and struck the worker shortly before midnight on Nov. 21. Witnesses said they believe the driver of the white or silver car was male and that a female may have also been in the vehicle.

The injured worker had to be taken to a hospital in Baton Rouge to be treated.

An article in The Times-Picayune has more details on the police investigation.

Hit-and-run collisions are some of the worst kinds of traffic offenses, and when a person is left seriously injured at the scene, the offense is even worse. Injured parties are left not only wondering how they will cover medical expenses, lost income and other costs; victims have to deal the frustration of not knowing exactly who is responsible for the injury. Anyone faced with this kind of situation should explore every available legal option for receiving compensation for damages.
