Both Texas drivers killed in head-on collision between semis

We all know that occupants of passenger vehicles can easily be injured in collisions with large trucks. The difference in size and weight is a major factor in these crashes.

Still, drivers of large commercial vehicles also face risk of serious injuries while behind the wheel. Often collisions with big rigs and semi trucks are caused by drivers of smaller vehicles, but in other cases, large trucks collide because one of the drivers failed to exercise due caution.

That appears to have been the case in a tragic accident that recently took the lives of two Texas men.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the driver of a Volvo semi truck crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and collided head-on with another semi. The Volvo reportedly rolled after the initial impact, and the other vehicle, a Freightliner, ran off the road and came to a stop in a ditch.

Neither driver survived the crash, and it was reported that the Volvo driver was not wearing a seat belt when the accident happened.

Injured truck drivers or their families may face significant financial burdens after a serious accident. Whether your concerns are medical bills, lost wages, rehabilitation or funeral expenses, it is important to understand your full range of options for compensation.

In some cases, an investigation of the accident shows that negligence on the part of the trucking company, the truck manufacturer or some other third party caused the crash. If a third party is responsible for the accident, then a work injury and wrongful death attorney can take the necessary steps to hold that party responsible.
